Volunteer Updates: Bad weather contingency plans and events in January

Categories:

Many thanks to intrepid volunteers who are making it into KBOO through all manner of weather!  If you are unable to make it to a volunteer shift, please call and let us know as soon as you are able, so we can try to cover. For situations involving on-air cancellations during business hours, please call the front desk (503-231-8032) and ask to speak directly with Chris Merrick or myself.  If neither are available, please ask for any staff person.  For very time sensitive urgent situations like this, it is important not to rely on voicemail or email, but to speak with a staff member directly. If it is after hours, and you are unable to make it in for an on-air shift, please call the air room (503-231-8187), and ask for emergency contact information for Chris Merrick or myself.

KBOO's starting off 2009 with a volunteer appreciation party! We would love for all volunteers to join us in a very special afternoon of celebration, honoring the amazing work you do to make KBOO the great community radio station it is.

The appreciation party will be at Liberty Hall, 311 N. Ivy, on Saturday, January 10th, 1 - 4 PM.  Please check kboo.fm/volunteer for up to date details.

Volunteer Spotlight

Sometimes a new KBOO volunteer arrives on the scene, and just hits the ground running.  Frank Cobb, Sr. is one such volunteer.  He arrived for Orientation back in January, and immediately got involved in the PM News Department.  Within a month, after coming to every training that was offered in the News Department, he was going out to the street almost every day, tape recorder in hand, to interview the homeless in Portland.
