Bob Riddle's blog

Bob Riddle/Rita Rega/Don Manning

The incomparable Don Manning,.
long time host of "Bebop Spoken Here" on KBOO,
has passed on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

We collectively owe a debt of gratitude to Don,
as well as KBOO managers over these many years,
for continuing the tradition of unique jazz hosts on KBOO.

It is this uniqueness, balanced by a true love and respect
for this jazz music, that, we feel, keeps our listeners coming back,
staying with us, and wanting to become members.

Nick Gefroh is hosting an on-air tribute to Don,
on his show, "Jazz Lives!", on Wednesday, September 10.
We only wish Don could hear it all "live".
Nick planned it while Don was still with us;

Jazz In The Afternoon - September 2012 update

Categories:

I'll be hosting "Jazz In The Afternoon" again on Wednesday, September 26.

Our family's huge project of rebuilding, replacing, and re-moving home after the fire

is nearing completion; at least the end is in sight - the end of October.

Looking forward to being "home" at KBOO on a more regular basis

on alternate Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m.

But don't worry: this won't mean the end of Rita Rega.

Expect to hear each of us bringing jazz your way.

With regards,

Bob Riddle

Jazz In The Afternoon - March 28 Update

Categories:

Thank goodness for friends like Rita Rega.

With no notice, she stepped in and, tastefully and swingingly,

took over "Jazz In The Afternoon" after our house fire

on New Year's day.

A big debt of gratitude is due her.

Please expect nothing but the best jazz to continue from us both

on "Jazz In The Afternoon" while I work my way

through the long process of rebulding our home

and replacing, restoring, and re-organizing its contents -

including my music collection.

Our show's founder, the late Jim Andrews,

would expect nothing less.

Sincerely, and with regards to all,

Bob Riddle

Thanks for your support of KBOO.

I wish you all a happy and musical holiday season.
