Next week, from August 20th to 24th, the U.S. military will be conducting what they call an 'experiment' in Portland, called 'Operation Noble Resolve 07-2'. All military branches, as well as the Northern Command and the Joint Forces Command, will be participating in the simulation, in which they will play out the military's role in responding to a natural disaster - in this case, an earthquake in Portland. KBOO's Jenka Soderberg speaks with Lieutenant Colonal Steve Smith of the U.S. Joint Forces Command about the planned simulation.
Workers for Metro picketed outside their administrative center yesterday over stalled contract negotiations. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) organized the informational picket. KBOO’s Marc de Giere spoke with Don Loving, a representative from the union.
