August 24th- 26th,2007,grassroots media makers, organizers, and community members converged to participate in a weekend of skillshares – called the Portland Grassroots Media Camp. We interviewed media camp organizers, instructors and participants.You’ll also hear a sampling of audio produced during media camp workshops.
On the first anniversary of the James “Jim-Jim” Chasse killing, we interview Jason Renault of the Mental Health Association of Portland, Alejandro Queral of the NW Constitutional Rights Center, and Kwik Jones, local playwright.We also will play excerpts from a film by Copwatch, called “These Streets are Watching” – a 53 minute documentary which is available on google video.
Doug Haning is a pianist living in Portland. He told me once of times when a pianist played bars typically before the DJ and Karaoke; he would play 6 hours, solo piano on occasion. He currently plays local jazz venues such as the Tugboat regularly in a variety of ensembles and sometimes solo.
