Clint Coppernoll of Hood River was in Washington, DC for a massive march on the Pentagon. He had hoped to visit his representatives in Congress, to let them know how he feels about the ongoing war in Iraq. Coppernoll spoke with KBOO News by phone.
Meanwhile, U.S. Senators voted against a bill to bring troops home from Iraq by August 2008, defeating the measure by just 2 votes.
Oregon Senator Gordon Smith was the only Republican to vote in favor. Whether his vote was due to the two straight months of protests and arrests at Smith’s Portland office is unclear.
