People who depend on Tri-Met for most of their transportation need transfers that last more than an hour or two.  Bus Riders Unite!, part of OPAL (Organizing People / Activating Leaders), is calling for a rally on Wednesday, September 28 starting at 8 AM.  Details here.  The Old Mole's Johanna Brenner talks here with Cameron Johnson of OPAL about the demand for a three-hour transfer.

Jennifer Kemp attended local transportation justice organization Bus Riders Unite's planning meeting, and then the Tri-Met Board Meeting. BRU proposed an alternative budget proposal, keeping fares low and service accessible. BRU supporters turned out in large numbers to testify at the board meeting, and speak out for low income people, immigrant populations and communities of color. Jennifer Kemp spoke with BRU members as well as recording testimonials.
