Mariotta Gary-Smith Health Educator & Sharon Gary-Smith, Executive Director MRG Foundation

Bread and Roses will be having conversations with two outstanding community change agents who happen to be from the same family…a mother-daughter duo! We will first talk with Mariotta Gary-Smith (daughter) who is the African American Sexual Health Equity Program (AASHEP) Health Educator for Multnomah County Health Department, STD/HIV/Hep C Program.  Followed by a conversation with Sharon Gary-Smith (mother) who is the Executive Director of the McKenzie River Gathering (MRG) Foundation and has dedicated over four decades of activism and leadership to ensuring that our most vulnerable and affected citizens are included in civic discourse, especially those most impacted by homophobia, racism, sexism, classism, ageism and ableism.
