program date:
Mon, 12/16/2013
The chances of retiring with enough to support live on are slim and getting slimmer, as pensions disappear, 401Ks fail to grow, and Social Security and Medicare are under attack from austerity hawks. Karen Friedman is with the Pension Rights Center in Washington, D.C. and speaks around the country on these matters. She talks here with the Old Mole's Bill Resnick, arguing that a crisis for the elderly will soon be upon us if we don't organize and act soon. 18:04 minutes (10.34 MB)

TriMet to Vote on Transfer Time Increase

Evening News
program date:
Thu, 12/05/2013
TriMet is going to vote next Wednesday on whether to increase transfer times for one-way tickets to 2.5 hours, up from 2 hours, to better accomodate round trips. This would also clarify their official stance on one-way tickets, which is that round trips are not encouraged but rather an unintended benefit of making a shorter trip. Sam Bouman spoke with Vivian Satterfield of OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon for more on the Rider's Union and the proposed transfer increase. 5:00 minutes (4.58 MB)
