Calls From Home

program:
Prison Pipeline
program date:
Mon, 12/20/2010

Today’s show focused on the Calls from Home project from WMMT and Appalshop in Whitesburg, KY. Prison Pipeline volunteer LT interviews Julia Taylor about how families and communities can stay connected to prisoners through radio. We also shared some of those recorded messages and had a few local callers broadcast their message on tonight's show.

We would like to adopt a program like this here at Prison Pipeline so we encourage you to call 503.231.8032 and leave a message for Prison Pipeline with the KBOO receptionist (with your contact info!) and we will call you back to record your message for a future broadcast.

Positively Revolting on 12-17-10: Winter Solstice - Delving into the Dark, and Welcoming the Sun

program date:
Fri, 12/17/2010

So we've made it around the Sun, one more time.  The longest night of the year comes next week-- Winter Solstice is Tuesday, the 21st, with the Sun going into Capricorn at 3:38 PM, Pacific Time.

This is one of the eight turning points of the pagan year.  The last was Samhain, more commonly known as Halloween.  At that time, the old year dies... the earth lies almost at rest around us for six weeks.  Now, at Winter Solstice, it is reborn.

In this time, all posibilities exist as we dive deep into the void to find our visions, and make them manifest.  In this longest night, we can access our subconscious selves, our dreams, and we can face our shadow selves.  In these things lay our personal power.
