Cultural revitalization in progress!

Just back from a weekend in Port Orford, celebrating the 19th annual Salmon Bake/Ancestor Honoring Days. It really feels like we are strengthening our culture, our friendships and family relationships, and our ties to the land and our ancestors who live(d) there.  The elders have their eyes on those of us who will be following in their footsteps the best we can.

Exciting times ahead!

I am looking forward to the John Talley Memorial Event this Friday...People from across cultures will gather to honor the one and only, the late John Talley...

When I get the final of the program I will post it here.

I am honored to have interned with John here at KBOO in 2004. Little did I know that a senior project for my Bachelor of Arts degree from Marylhurst would propell me into radio or into a faithful friendship.. I am truly blessed to have known John and to have him as a friend.

Focusing on that has given me solace when false and greedy, mean and ugly acts have been directed at me during a time of grief..I have lost respect for those involved but I pray that those misdirected people will be redirected to a path more positive.

Donadaghvi,

New Visions for Peace, Episode #2 Jordan Gray and the Seventh Major Understanding

I had a wonderful conversation with Jordan Gray, author of The Seventh Major Understanding, A Message of Awakening. Jordan partners with Joshua, a non-physical being who has been with him his whole life, in bringing this message to us and also in the writing of the book.

He takes a fresh look at spiritual and metaphysical concepts, and he urges us to transcend the boundaries of world religions. Joshua builds upon our ability to create our personal and global reality. Awakening to our oneness with All That Is, is the path to a new way of life. The Seventh Major Understanding shines a light on our path into a brighter personal and shared reality – a new Golden Age.

Daniel Suelo, the man who quit money

Daniel Suelo, the man who quit money

Twelve years ago, Daniel Suelo left his life savings - thirty dollars - inside a phone booth and walked away. Since then, he has lived - to all appearances sanely and even joyfully - without money, credit, barter, or government support, fulfilling what he sees as a vision of the good life inspired by the teachings of Jesus, the Buddha and others. Suelo sees his path as one that has allowed him to live an engaged life on the personal, social and spiritual level. What does his experience tell us about modern American life?

Lyn and Ani talk with Micheal Meade about his new spoken word CD set Inner Wisdom

Drawing upon myths and wisdom traditions from both the East and West, Micheal Meade finds and mines the ancient "roots of wisdom'. Rather than abstract knowlege or general truths, this "embodied wisdom" is shown to be both immediate and eternal, both personal and deeply soulful. The point here is the awakening of the Uniquness within each individual and their connection to the divine: which is to say our connection to each other. Join us .... this will be informative and fun.

Village Building Convergence 12

KBOO is excited to co-sponsor the Village Building Convergence--  a ten-day celebration of building community in very tangible ways.

Briefly, the VBC brings people together to create benches, community kiosks, gardens, street paintings, tile mosaics, and more! Neighbors and volunteers from all over will bring to life the natural building, permaculture, and public art projects that they’ve been planning. Learn valuable skills for urban sustainability and social regeneration while celebrating the creativity and diversity of our wonderful city!
