Local  and Touring Bands often drop by the studio to play live.  Special Guestsalso stop by, or call in,  to talk about Upcoming Performances, Happening Events, Movies, DVDs, Comic Books, CD Releases, Cartoons, and other High Trash, Art & Culture! Hosted second through fourth or fifth Mondays by that Over 40 Teenage Werewolf, Fortunato, assisted by Audio Pilots Captain Jon, Just Jess, and Dev L, The All-Hearing Ear.

A fantastic show featuring live music and guests. First, the unique stylings of We Are Like The Spider transcended our first hour, as they performed in the studio. Starting off the second hour, Raf, of Rafael Vigilantics, delivered some amazing beats and raps. Dennis Nybeck of the Cartoon Institute came in to promote his month long series of off beat, avant guard and little seen cartoons at the Faux Museum . Jamie Leopold stopped in as well as a touring band call Cuckoo Chaos, promoting their upcoming appearances in town.

First, a young band called Ritual Galaxy, who we had to get permission slips from their parents to allow them to perform live in the studio this afternoon. Also, Moongoose Thompson and his new band (((( )))), or "boing" as it is pronounced in cartoons, will perform in our second hour . Don't miss the fun.

Many listeners may be taking the day before Christmas off from work, but we're at the studio and putting on a show. Mister Christmas will be sitting in with Fortunato and they will be presenting some lovely and not so serious  holiday songs. There will also be some excerpts from Gremlin Time's recent holiday presentation of "The Father Christmas Letters" by J.R.R. Tolkien. So tune us in while you're putting up the tree, wrapping those presents, and having another cup of egg nog.

It was a pre-holiday extravaganza this afternoon. Fortunato welcomed two bands, We Are Like The Spider, and Patchy Saunders, to play live in the studio while two others, Brain Shapes and The Ex Girlfriends Club dropped by or called up to promo their upcoming shows. Mister Christmas (Craig Adams), brought in a couple of rarely heard holiday recordings, featuring among others Betty Boop, Mister McGoo, and one of the actresses who played Catwoman! DK Holm also called in with his off beat holiday movie picks, and a review of the series of Stanley Kubrick movies playing at the Cinema 21.

Our annual Halloween Special, with Dr Zomb and Rich L. joining Fortunato with a special terror filled selection of horror movie soundtracks and rare Halloween vinyl. Setting up in the studio in our first hour, will be Jaime Leopold and the Short Stories, and from Houston, Texas, Sergio and Ausin, from the band Buxton, will perform in our second hour. We had expected a couple of members The Vagabond Opera to tell us all about their big bash, but instead, Pinball Keith stopped by to tell us about an amazing Halloween pinball tournament/pub crawl.

And,  Sean Howe, author of  Marvel Comics: The Untold Story, will talk to us by phone about his 80 year history of Marvel Comics and his appearance tonight at Powell's on Hawthorne. All this, and the usual shenanigans and goings on.

 Erica Melton from Opera Theater Oregon, will visit with host Fortunato to talk about their presentation of "The Old Maid and the Thief", a one act, radio opera by Gian Carlo Menotti. The first of seven performances will be at The Mission Theater this Friday, October 5th.We'll also talk by phone to one of our past guests, singer/songwriter  Margomay, who is living in Kansas City, and will listen to some of her new recordings.  Also, our usual hijinks.

Excerpts from The Monday Sampler's Labor Day Show. Besides our annual 'back of the studio cook out', host Fortunato welcomes Irish folk singers Colleen Raney and Casey Neill to our studio.  Both were going to perform with their own bands at the upcoming Muddy Boot Festival that upcoming weekend in SE Portland . Also, guitarist Dorian Michael , who was away from his central California home touring the NW, came by to perform some of his original compositions on the guitarand the ukalale.

Folk and blues guitarist Dorian Michael talked to us on the phone last week. We talked about his upcoming appearances around the Pacific Northwest, his music background growing up in the blues/folk scene in L.A., and even about tuning guitars and the different types of woods used in making the instruments. But because we were a bit carried away with our show of Movie Soundtracks and TV Themes, we could only air part of the interview. And we take a look at the decades long running holiday favorite 'The Cinnamon Bear'. And we're excited to welcome blues guitarist Hamilton Loomis to the studio for a rare solo performance. And joining us from KBOO's Sunday afternoons, Armando, helps out on the control board for this mid summer special of blues and Christmas music.
