It 's the fifth Monday of the month, which means it is a Blue Moon Monday Special on today's Sampler. So, to give us a break from the hot weather, not that we don't love the hot weather, Fortunato will cool things off with a 'Xmas In July' presentation of Winter Wonderland Music on part of today's show!  DK and Mona will also drop by to talk about current movies and television shows. It's the talk show that stops talking to listen to music, the music show that stops playing music to have a conversation.

Film critics, DK and Mona discussed The Heat, Pacific Rim and The Lone Ranger. We also recommended some Rainy Day Vacation DVDs.

Some great electronic music on today's show. First, two Parisian lads who have settled here in Portland, Exotic Club. And, up from the Bay Area, the amazing Metal Mother.  Who are appearing in town together later this week, but came here to the Sampler to preview how rockin' and cosmic their show will be. Meanwhile, Sabrina has fired up her van and dropped  Fortunato and Pinball Keith  over by SE 12th and Hawthorne, to look at some old and new pinball machines. Where they'll meet up with, former computer designer for Williams Pinball, Greg Dunlap. It all proved to be fun and educational.

We talked about the performances, the audiences they have been having, as well as some obsevations about the original TV shows from back in the mid 1960s

The Mad Doctor was helping us out, but we didn't get the recording started until the interview had already started. As this opens we are talking about the look of some of the earliest episodes of the series.

Cuddle Magic were touring the country this spring, having also played in Denver and Seattle before coming to the Sidedoor last night in SE Portland. While they were in the studio, they mentioned that part of them are from Brooklyn, but the other members are from Philidelphia. When they said they met in college, I had to test them with a musical joke that only actual music students laugh at. A wonderful band, with electronic keyboards, trumpet and a bass clarinet among others instruments.
