From Day of the Dead to taiko, Portland’s two of the top professional multicultural arts groups offer new artistic celebrations. And in the latter part of the show, we hear from Michelle Fujii of Portland Taiko about Making Waves 2013 featuring LA-based taiko group ON ENSEMBLE.

Producer Tali Singer profiles Portland Music Therapist Marion Van Namen.   As part our continuing series of features on Stage and Studio with Dmae Roberts… Tali Singer brings us a side of the arts used for therapy.  According to the American Music Therapy Association, music can help children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.  Marion Van Namen, a music therapist in Portland says when a person makes music, it gives her a picture of who they are as a human and that helps her open them up to possibilities to improve their lives. Tali Singer brings us this profile of a music therapist at work…
