She's authored more than 20 books and is an Oregon Book award finalist for "A Flickering Light." Her latest is "The Daughter's Walk" which is based on the true story of a mother and daughter in 1896 who both walked from Spokane, Washington to New York City to save the family farm.

Tuesday, April 12 at 11 am on KBOO 90.7 FM, Host/Producer Dmae Roberts presents the second Pushing Boundaries piece, this time featuring Pendulum Aerial Arts with artistic director Suzanne Kenney. Founded in 2000, Pendulum's innovative performances blend dance, drama, and storytelling with a circus flair. We'll also find out about NW Classical Theatre Company's production of Shakespeare's 'Cymbeline' and we'll have another Writers Read, this time a poem by Sandra de Helen.

On Tuesday, April 5th at 11 am on KBOO 90.7 fm, host/producer Dmae Roberts features the Portland premiere of The Juliet Letters by fEARnoMUSIC, a 21st century classical ensemble. Dmae talks with three ensemble members: violinist Paloma Griffin, singer Holcombe Waller, and cellist Nancy Ives. We'll hear music from the group and clips from The Juliet Letters. Producer Tali Singer profiles Portland Music Therapist Marion Van Namen.   As part our continuing series of features on Stage and Studio with Dmae Roberts… Tali Singer brings us a side of the arts used for therapy.  According to the American Music Therapy Association, music can help children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.  Marion Van Namen, a music therapist in Portland says when a person makes music, it gives her a picture of who they are as a human and that helps her open them up to possibilities to improve their lives. Tali Singer brings us this profile of a music therapist at work…
