Dmae profiles guitarist and singer Parfait Bassale who is about to debut his new EP of original songs. Originally from West Africa, Bassale weaves joyous guitar melodies with his intricate vocals. He often sings about his experiences and introspections of immigrant dreams and daily life.  Bassale performs live and debuts some of his new songs on the EP. He also tells about the Columbe Project, his peace education program for youth.

Beyond Silence is a documentary film which chronicles the lives of Deaf people in Mumbai, India. It celebrates their lives, language and culture. The director, Vidyut Latay, aimed to depict this community as a linguistic minority, rather than a disability. Faux Museum is closing its doors soon & Best Highlights of 2014
Dmae talks with Tom Richards the curator of the Faux Museum, a conceptual art museum that boasts the world's last living Woolly Ant. The Faux Museum won't be renewing it's lease and will be closing its doors on Jan. 11, 2015 after two years of often offbeat and humorous exhibits created to spark critical thinking.  Since 2012 exhibits have included the "Tour de Faux!" bike event, "10,000 Years of Faux History," "The Liars Hall of Shame" and the "Monument of the 7th Dimension: Portal." We'll find out more about why Richards has been working on this dadaist art museum as performance art piece since 1991.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of her Peabody award-winning documentary Mei Mei, A Daughter's Song, Dmae Roberts is adapting this radio memoir docu-play into a film.  This memoir documentary screens 8pm, Nov. 21st at the Clinton Street Theater, 2522 SE Clinton St. in Portland. Producer Tali Singer profiles Portland Music Therapist Marion Van Namen.   As part our continuing series of features on Stage and Studio with Dmae Roberts… Tali Singer brings us a side of the arts used for therapy.  According to the American Music Therapy Association, music can help children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.  Marion Van Namen, a music therapist in Portland says when a person makes music, it gives her a picture of who they are as a human and that helps her open them up to possibilities to improve their lives. Tali Singer brings us this profile of a music therapist at work…
