9 am – KBOO’s Chris Andreae hosts a call-in show with Village Building Convergence organizers Hanna Poier, Eddie Hooker and Matt Bibeau.

At 10, it’s a Forum on Legalizing sustainability, with Melora Golden, Joshua Klyber, Sukita Crimmel, Mark Lakeman and others.

At 11, we’ll have a live interview with Hannah Apricot, a local filmmaker who is currently working on a film about the Village Building Convergence.

Then at 11:15, we’ll hear from Jennifer Steckler, who helped launch a Village Building Convergence in Vermont.

At 11:30, Marisha Auerbach speaks on creative solutions to the global food crisis.

Scott Howard from Earthenhand joins us live at 12:15 to talk about cob and earthen building techniques.

At 12:45, we’ll hear about the project for National De-fence – not the military kind, but the de-fencing of our communities.

And at 1:15, it’s a talk by Michael Becker on how Permaculture can Transform Public Education.

In the summer of 2001, her team warned about a major terrorist attack involving airplane hijackings and a strike on the World Trade Center. She is the author of "Extreme Prejudice: The Terrifying Story of the Patriot Act and the Cover Ups of 9/11 and Iraq."

Revisiting New Orleans: Reaching For Recovery

I visited the Central City neighborhood of New Orelans in April 2010 to see how recovery efforts are reshaping this historic section of the city.  Along Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, I found a resurgence in small businesses, non-profits and affordable housing where blighted homes once stood.

Tribute to Judy Bari

 This is a recording from the KBOO archives, of Judy Bari speaking in 1994 in Portland.  Judy Bari was a renowned environmental, labor and social justice leader. She organized nonviolent protests against destructive corporate logging of the redwood forests. She died of breast cancer on March 2, 1997.
