Protest at Omega Morgan in Hillsboro

Around 30 protesters with Rising Tide and other groups took over the lobby at Omega Morgan headquarters, demanding to talk with the President, John McCalla, and for an end to their transport of "megaload" shipments of Tar Sands oil extraction equipment to Alberta, Canada. APA Compass: Simon Tam on The Slants' trademark case

Musician Simon Tam describes his ongoing legal action to trademark his band's name, "The Slants."  The US Patent and Trademark Office denied his applications on the grounds that the word is offensive, though approved hundred of other trademarks containing the same word.

TriMet to Vote on Transfer Time Increase

TriMet is going to vote next Wednesday on whether to increase transfer times for one-way tickets to 2.5 hours, up from 2 hours, to better accomodate round trips. This would also clarify their official stance on one-way tickets, which is that round trips are not encouraged but rather an unintended benefit of making a shorter trip. McDonald's Protest in Portland
