The Abe and Joe Talk Radio Show on 09/04/12

Air date:
Tue, 09/04/2012 - 8:00am - 9:00am
Short Description:
Abe and Joe look back on the GOP convention.

The first of the election season clown conventions is over. The Republicans have concluded their ceremonies in Florida, and anointed this year's version of The Next Guy in Line -- Mitt Romney. And to no one's surprise, the GOP platform is built from the time-honored planks of tax cuts, misogyny, guns, deregulation, xenophobia, nationalism, spending cuts, patriarchy, piety, fear, anger, and deification of the rich and powerful.

But this time around, something strange is in the air. Republicans have a dubious relationship with reality, we all know this -- but depth of this year's GOP mendacity has even drawn the attention of the mainstream news media. Are journalists, at long last, deciding to be reporters instead of stenographers? Will this be the year when they finally decide to call out the liars?

Voices on this show are: Kimberly Kaminski, Executive Director of Oregon Citizens for Safe Drinking Water claims that three council votes are pledged before any public input and before recent scientific research is digested by the public health community.

Dr Gary Oxman, Multnomah County Health Officer largely sings the praises of fluoridation and acknowledges the new Harvard study showing higher concentrations of fluoride leading to lower IQs. He also explains public health as a holistic practice and would consider any added stress to the community as a negative health impact of fluoridating water.
