Air date:
Thu, 03/08/2012 - 5:30am - 7:00am
Short Description:
Women rock your soul this International Women's Day, representing indigenous & traditional musics

We'll be getting up even before the hens start a layin' to bring you an especially crunchy Rise when the Rooster Crows. I've been delving into aboriginal, indigenous, and traditional catalogs looking for the right blend to rev up your morning.

Don't be afeared -- we'll still have that traditional music you have come to expect between 5:30 and 7 am -- but maybe we can do a bit of offroading in honor of International Women's Day.

International Women's Day on 03/08/12

Air date:
Thu, 03/08/2012 - 3:00am - 5:30am

An aural journey with women who don't color within the lines.

Hear spoken word, eclectic, punk, ambient, rock, traditional, and more-- sometimes all mixed together and served on the rocks.

Tune in for some Karen Finely, Meredith Monk, Team Dresch, Angela Davis, Judy Bari, and more.

Featuring the annual airing of the song Wild Women With Steak Knives (Homocidal Love Song for Solo Scream), by Diamanda Galas.

Tillicum Wawa 3-1-12

Tonight began a new format for us at Tillicum Wawa. The plan is to have Eugene and I alternate with Redwillow every other week.

Tonight, Eugene and I talked about the John T. Williams memorial totem pole being raised in Seattle, and played the music that accompanied the video on Brenda Norrell's blog, Censored News Indigenous Peoples and Human Rights. Watch the video and see how love overcame hate...this time.
