The Builders And The Butchers perform Live on Drinking From Puddles for 03/09/11 !!

“The Builders And The Butchers’ musical output is something of a Pentecostal throw-down—the musical underpinnings are reminiscent of bluegrass, but the performances are raw and unschooled, with Sollee in particular throwing off a maniacally ecclesiastical sort of energy…dark, sparkling, Leadbelly-like terrain covered by death-fixated epics…”

My, Oh My! February gone in a flash! We got under way by playing some requests phoned in along the way.  The "common thread" through the opening segment, I guess, was space travel. Inspired most likely by last weeks Shuttle launch. One other common thread throughout the first hour of the show was Jerry Garcia's peddle steele guitar playing. After the "Space Walk" segment, we ventured back to 1969 Summer Solstice in New York's Fillmore East. We "peeked" in at the late show for about 45 minutes. After that we fast forwarded close to 20 years, and visited the Berkeley Greek Theater for a nicely played first set on 7-17-88. We made it up to Let It Grow before we had to stop and make room for the Fabulous James Brown special that came on after us!
