Interview With David Nelson of the New Riders of The Purple Sage Pt. 1

Categories:

Hi folks, thanks for your patience. I interviewed David Nelson back in May of 2009 and KBOO broadcast a (as you will no doubt notice) heavily edited (by me, for time constraints, no other reason) on June 13 2009. Here is the full text of the first half of the interview (it's taken me a while to transcribe). I hope to have the second half up soon.

Hi again! Sorry I'm late.  Let's see, We started off our show with some nice stuff from It's A Beautiful Day at the Fillmore West in San Francisco 5-24-68. Then we took a trip back to Fillmore East in New York for some acoustic Music from 2-14-70, the same show that Bear's choice, and Dick's Picks 4 featured. By this time in the show, we were joined by Our old Pal Tom Chiles, and also Skott Gillan from The Garcia Birthday Band. Scott is a "semi regular" on our show, and it's always a joy to have him on with us. After 2-14-70, we started a nice first set sounboard recording of 4-13-89 Rosemont Horizon in Illinois. We got all but the last two songs of the set before we ran out of time.
