Antonin Artaud (1896-1948): theater director, playwright, actor, poet, theorist, and visual artist. Surrealist and founder of Theater of Cruelity. "Here Lies" was one of Artaud's last poems, written in the late 1940s after he'd been institutionalized and subjected to shock therapy. He produced some of his most brilliant works during these years.
