Arrington De Dionyso and Professor Gall

This week I'll be taking you back in time, all the way to February 19th, 2010 at the Artistery, an all-ages house basement and gallery venue here in Portland. The performance was in support of Arrington De Dionyso's new album release Malaiktat Dan Singa out on K Records.  Most folks interested in indie music have heard, or seen Old Time Relijun. Most folks interested in avant-garde and free jazz have witnessed Arrington perform solo. Now, if you are a fan of both -- as only a few are -- you will definitely dig a live performance of Malaiktat Dan Singa. Full of the brash punkish psychedelic energy of Old Time Relijun --but this is Arrington's band! -- he will sing as he desires, solo on the bass clarinet, and go as far in to a trance as he can.

some say it was a post-valentine’s day extravaganza, others say it was a valentine-pocalypse. what we do know is that my friend todd and i played three hours of songs concerning love: nurturing it, celebrating it, rejecting it, lamenting its loss.

thanks to those of you who called in with requests!

HOUR ONE:
Buzzcocks – What Do I Get? – Singles Going Steady (I.R.S., 1978)

The Teenagers (featuring Soko) – Love No – Love No 12″ Single (Merok, 2008)
Jenny Lewis – You Are What You Love – Rabbit Fur Coat (Team Love, 2006)
Butterfly Boucher – Keeper – Scary Fragile (self, 2009)
Aimee Mann – One – Magnolia Original Soundtrack (Reprise / WEA, 1999)

Chrome Wings live on Un|Herd, Feb 22 at 10pm

Join me and Chrome Wings on Feb. 22 for an electro-dub-noise trip on Un | Herd at the usual 10pm. Chrome Wings is the rotating door of one Jon Jurow, a North Portland scene fixture whose project described above has taken many more shapes and sounds than you'll hear on this show. We can't go back to the past, but you can do your research. Chrome Wings' debut LP is due for release on Sohitek Records in March, with a follow up EP release on Stunned in April.
