Africa Oyé for the 3rd Thursday of June, 2012, Mike Johnson hosting. The program featured a remembrance of Ndombe Opetum, veteran vocalist with Franco & TPOK Jazz, Tabu Ley's Afrisa International & Tiers Monde. He died of cardiac arrest on May 24, 2012, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Following that, Angolan music, mostly from the 1970's, was featured, along with a few more recent recordings from Rui Mingas & Waldemar Bastos.

The first show of the month is usually hosted by Dr. Zomb  and features African music collectors and labels he meets through the Mississippi Records community.

This week he was pleased to have Hisham Mayet from Sublime Frequencies with him in the air room . Sublime Frequencies is one of the premier labels for world music, check them out on line for their catalog of cds, vinyl and downloads of really compelling unheard music from around the globe...

Hisham played some as yet unreleased material, some amazing selections from his collection of snippets he has recorded off of the radio in Niger, and a few of his favorite lps as well.
