Out Loud is KBOO's queer culture radio show, celebrating & serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning & allied communities. We feature interviews with community groups, authors, musical talent, and anyone from the queer & allied communities. We strive to give voice to those not heard in the main stream media.

On Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 6 pm Pacific Out Loud hosts a panel of experts who will be discussing sex and human trafficking, the role gender and sexuality have in this modern day slave-trade, and how this is happening right here in Portland, Oregon.


A human trafficked homeless 16-year old boy was asked what agencies in Portland could do in order to help him and thousands like him get off the street, he paused and then turned to the folks at a partnered organization and said “Obliterate Stark Street.”

She performed around the globe, entertained the military troops, gained awards and mainstream success and maintained her belief in God, family and apple pie.

Tune in Tuesday, March 31st as OutLoud host Carla talks with local Lambda Literary Award finalists including Curve magazine Editor-in-Chief and B6 burlesque dancer, Diane Anderson-Minshall, author of the erotic thriller, Punishment With Kisses. They will be joined by several contributors to the anthology Portland Queer: Tales from the Rose City, including KBOO’ Gender Blender co-host Jacob Anderson-Minshall, Dexter Flowers, and Wayne Gregory. Portland Queer, edited by Ariel Gore is also a Lambda finalist (albeit in another category). Other authors represented in the anthology include Marc Acito and Tom Spanbauer.

Speaking of Spanbauer, the author of Now is the Hour, will be a featured author at the next QLiterati!

 In her foreward to the new anthology Kicked Out--by current and formerly homeless LGBTQ youth-- Judy Shepard (mother of Matthew Shepard) notes that a disporportionate percentage of the youth on America's streets are there in part because they identify as lesbian, gay or transgender.  Tune in Tuesday night as Jacob Anderson-Minshall speaks with Kicked Out editor Sassafras Lowrey and four of the contributors to this powerful collection.  Hear first hand the painful and difficult experiences these kids face after they are forced from their homes because of ignorance or hate--and learn how little it can take to safe a life.

Meredith Baxter's coming out, downsizing queer media, gay marriage, hate-crime legislation?  Which was the biggest story of 2009?  On December 29th, host Jacob Anderson-Minshall presents the Queer/Trans year in review.  In a pre-produced program Jacob will talk with local and national representatives of LGBT media about the biggest queer and trans stories of 2009.  They'll also look at some of the top LGBT stories of the decade that is drawing to a close: including Oregon's own pregnant man.
