Occupy Portland Radio

KBOO has been with Occupy Portland from the very beginning. Since there is so much overlap in issues of concern and advocacy it is only natural that there should be such a strong bond. We are dedicated to strengthening that bond and seeing the dreams of justice, equality, and government that truly represents the people come to be!

Pepper Sprayed High School Students Hold Press Conferece, State Resolve

program date:
Fri, 11/23/2012

Around 300 protesters gathered in the Lloyd District on November 3rd for an unpermitted march against austerity.  The police were out in their riot gear force and used pepper spray for crowd control.  High school students bore the brunt of the violence and held a press conference on November 7 to describe what happened.

The kids bravely reported on the sever physical pain inflicted on them at the November 3 anti-austerity protest and the lasting mental anguish that comes from realizing that not everyone with a badge is necessarily officer friendly.

For the perspective of the other side of the thin blue line, I spoke with Sergeant Pete Simpson, spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
