A couple of crime stories tonight. First, our 3D Radio Theater Players presents "Johnny One Eye" by Damon Runyon; a mobster hides out in an abandoned house after being ambushed, there he befriends a beat up kitten he calls Johnny. To fill out the hour, Fortunato presents a classic  from radio's golden age, featuring Dick Powell as Private Investigator Richard Diamond. Diamond is given a photograph that leads to a number of corpses in a mystery called "The Photographer's Card".

Mauricio Silva was chilean exile who worked as a freelance photographer. He had traveled the world and had thought he had seen everything. But the world holds many surprises.
In the second hour, a episode of a classic radio drama from 1953. The tall, lanky rider on horse back carries a pistol, they are both known as The Six Shooter.  James Steward starred in this short lived western series called The Six Shooter. Tonight we present "Silver Annie".

"Two Corpses on a Barge" by George Simeon, read by Professor Kitty

A barge is found drifting into a lock along a French canal, on board are discovered two corpses, a man and a woman, both hung. Inspite of an arrested suspect, the case resists resolution. Chief Inspector Magriet is called in from Paris to look for the solution. The inspector locates the local cafe, which proves to be the heart of the canal community, and settles in to drink some local wine, listen to everyone's story of events, observe the flow of life along the canels, order some more wine, and figures out the truth. This classic detective story is read by Professor Kitty, and hosted by Fortunato.

Two astounding tales by Eleanor Arnason and Gene Wolfe

From the outer limits of the imagination,"The Warlord of Saturn's Moons", a Nebula Award nominated story, written by Eleanor Arnason.  This unique tale of rockets and ray guns, evokes the early styles of pulp science fiction, and will be read by Professor Ginger Kitty. A dashing, red haired heroine in a rocket sled,  pursued across the frozen surface of Titan by the deadly forces of an evil warlord, is just the beginning of this, our first story of the evening. Also, Fortunato reads the short story "Useful Phrases", by Gene Wolfe. A lonely, used book store owner discovers an strange little book that is filled with peculiar phrase written in an unfamiliar foreign language. At first, he believes it is originates from some out of the way country in Asia. But, as he starts to study the alien language, and even search for people who speak it, he receives some odd visitors.

The Great Orpheum Gravy Boat Riot by Jrean Shephard

During the years of the Great Depression, small movie theaters would offer contests, and special giveaway events to attract ticket buyers. In tonight's story, Jean Shepherd recalls the weekly contests and special events that Mr Doppler, the owner of the Orpheum Theater of Holman, Indiana, would stage along to attract customers. All seems well until the master showman builds up local expectations too high with one giveaway too many, and suffers the consequences. Fortunato hosts, and special guest Woody Creek returns to read tonight's nostalgic tale, which comes from the 1966 collection In God We Trust; All Others Pay Cash , by Jean Shepherd.

Tribute to Ray Bradbury

In honor of his recent passing, we will present two short stories written by Ray Bradbury. From 1946 comes, "The Night", one of his first works to be published in the slick paper fiction magazines, selected at the time for publication by a young editor named Truman Capote. On a hot summer night, a young boy and his mother wait for his older brother to return home. As they go out into the night to look for him, the young boy begins to realize that there are dangers lurking in the darkness.Reading this story is Mrs White. Our second story, will be read by Fortunato, and is entitled "The Foghorn"(1951), an old lighthouse keeper, and his new assistant, realize that their fog horn is attracting something monstrous from the primeval depths of the ocean. Elements of this story were adapted to the screen as "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms", and it has influenced many surrealistic, giant monster movie masterpieces from "Godjira" to "Cloverfield" and "The Host."

She is only doing this because Nicely Nicely Jones, whom many up and down Broadway recognize as one of the greatest eaters in history, is now engaged to be married to her best friend, Miss Hilda Slocum. History Lesson by Arthur C. Clarke

Clarke, the author of Childhood's End, The City and the Stars, and Rendezvous with Rama.  This story appears in the collection Expedition to Earth. As with much of Clarke's work, this story  speculates on mankind's place in the cosmos.

From the Tidless Sea by William Hope Hodgson
