Dear Listeners,

So glad to have you along on this gorgeous last-day-of-summer morning....especially since a ten days of gorgeous summer weather is still in store for us this week into next.  I had a little fun finding some work-related songs for you on this Labor Day:  the cute Blank Blanker, the punchy Hoot Hot Damn - I Got a Job of Work, and the pretty one from Suzzy and Maggy Roche called For Those Whose Work Is Invisible.  Have a great Labor Day, my friends...

Dear Listeners,

I hope you enjoyed this morning's festive music.  Music, that is, that I managed one way or the other to tie in to various and assorted and sundry bizarre holidays.  For example, didja know that August is "Romance Awareness Month?"  So I just had to play "Romeo" by Dawn Landes and "Your Biscuits Are Big Enough For Me" by Steve Cheseborough.  Nuthin' like a little romance to start your Monday...

It's also "Be An Angel Day."  Thus the selections from Martin Sexton--"Wild Angels"--and from Katy Moffatt--"Angel Town."

And I couldn't resist "A Field of Shooting Stars" recalling last week's meteor shower.

Keep your dial at KBOO and keep in touch with all that is important...

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

How sad to learn last week that Bill Morrissey passed away.  He was only 59.  Heart trouble.  Died at his hotel while on a concert tour in Georgia.  His songs were so rich:  colorful stories, insightful vignettes of rough life, and humor galore.  I have always enjoyed spinning his songs on my show and am honored to offer a small tribute to Mr. Morrissey this morning.  May he rest in peace.

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Man, do we have some great music in this city.  Not only the local musicians but also all the talented folks who breeze through town, dropping off notes to our appreciative ears.  Be sure to get out there this week, next month, this summer, and all year to hear what these people have to say to you.

See you next Monday...!

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Hey, didja see that Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside put out a brand spanking new CD this past weekend?  Yeah, I gotta get my hands on that one soon--I love her sound!  She and her band joined Pancake Breakfast in musical celebration at the Doug Fir Saturday night, so you're hearing good stuff from them this morning on Folk Espresso.

I hope you're enjoying today's show!

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Today we are remembering our soldiers, our sailors, our airmen and women and all the loved ones they left behind when they went off to serve this nation, whether the rest of us agreed or not...

Here are sounds of the battlefield--machine guns and pipes of victory--songs of lovers lost in war, songs of soldiers returning to lost lovers, songs of protest, songs of national pride, songs of the soul's rest in death.

Thanks for listening this morning.  Now go thank a veteran.

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

As always, it's great to be here in The Big Chair, bringing you fun and interesting music.  And I really got a kick outta finding three songs in my humble record collection that must've all been written just for Saturday's Rapture.  Didja catch the theme:  End of Time, Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think), and Judgement Day....?

And you know, don't you, that Bob D. turns 70 tomorrow?  Had to do a teeny-tiny little tribute to him.  Love that Clothes Line Saga done by Suzzy and Maggie, off the album A Nod to Bob in honor of his 60th birthday ten years ago.

Keep listening these early folky music programs here on the 'BOO--we all love bringing you music in the morning!

Warmly,

Diane
