ACLU Fights DEA's Attempt to Access Oregonians' Prescription Records

The ACLU of Oregon has joined a suit brought before a federal judge by the state of Oregon in an attempt to prevent the DEA from accessing the data gathered by Oregon's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program without a warrant. Executive Branch Tries to Fast-Track TPP Through Congress

Portland School Board Meeting Rally

Kitzhaber's Federal Forest Plan

Yesterday evening, the Oregon Board of Forestry unanimously approved a federal forest plan personally presented by Governor John Kitzhaber. The plan aims to direct the Board's actions in order to create a more favorable context for both commercial and stewardship activity on Oregon's federal forest lands (about 60% of forest in the state). Megaload Protest: the Breakfast of Governors

Audobon society applauds decision to call off W. Hayden Island development

The Port of Portland cited cumbersome costs associated with the terms of use as their reason for withdrawing a revitalized and long standing plan to industrially develop West Hayden Island.
Negotiations began for this latest effort in the late nineties, but it wasn’t a first attempt, and according to Bob Salinger from the Audubon society of Portland, it’s not likely to be the last, as he explained to KBOO Reporter Robin Ryan.

Military Recrutiment In U.S. High Schools

The deparment of Defense released their annual report on recruitment in U.S. high schools over the last year.

But the data has raised a number of questions for privacy advocates-including whether a military test administred to high school students is considered voluntary, and which information can be passed on to military recruiters without parental consent.

Oregon Ranks #13 Out of 12 States In Solar Energy
