Animal Liberation Front Interview

Last week, activists from the Animal Liberation Front attacked private property belonging to an Oregon Health Sciences University researcher whom they described as a primate vivisector.
This is the second Oregon vivisector in six months to be targeted by the organization.

Corps of Engineers saves PDX trees from FEMA demolition

The fight to save 100 mature trees along the Bridgeton levee in north Portland got a needed boost today from the U-S Army Corps of Engineers.The Corps is currently reviewing its levee vegetation policy and plans to issue the revised standards as part of a National Levee Vegetation Roundtable to be held in early 2008.The Bridgeton Neighborhood Association’s and Columbia Riverkeeper have been fighting for months to preserve the hundred trees, which were scheduled to be cut due to a directive from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Since November 21st, when the Portland City Council gave up on the renaming of any street in Portland after Cesar E. Chavez, the debate has disappeared from the local media.

But peace activist Will Seaman (SEE-man) took to the street on Friday afternoon with a megaphone, along with other activists, to challenge the media’s portrayal of the issue:
