Bread and Roses is a collective of women identified radio activists. We offer feminist public affairs programming. We give voice to those working for social justice and equity, globally and locally. We strive to challenge systems of oppression. All this, and we have fun!

Bread and Roses highlights the achievements of women artists, activists, athletes, scholars and innovators.We strive for programming excellence and collaborative efforts, providing access and training to women.

Struggle for Hope: AIDS in Botswana and Dream Act in the US

In a two part program we will talk with

Najmeh Modarres about HIV/AIDS prevention in Botswana, where one quarter of the adult population has been affected by the disease. Najmeh is a public health educator, researcher and evaluator.
 
We also will discuss the Dream Act with Jackie and Erika, organizers with an Oregon group of dreamers. This legislation is intended to create a path towards legalization for thousands of undocumented youth. It will be introduced in the US Senate during the lame duck session in this coming week.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bread and Roses host Nico V. explores real ways to prevent cancer, beyond buying pink ribbons. 

Portland naturopath Dr. Greg Nigh and nutritional therapist Maria Zilka talk about how preventing cancer can be a revolutionary act.  Before, during, or after cancer treatment, there are many foods you can be eating and things you can be doing to stop cancer cells from proliferating.
