June Board Meeting this Monday or next

There has been talk about moving the board meeting to the 3rd Monday but it's not clear I'll try to figure it out by Wednesday.

Current issues for the agenda:

Bylaws proposal

Staff Evaluations

Strategic Planning

New Board Member appointed

One action the board took at our meeting this week was to appoint Kurt Lauer to a board position through September 2011.

Welcome Kurt, we appreciate your willingness to step forward.

May Board Meeting This Monday 5/24

Here is what I've got for an agenda so far:

Public Comment
Finance Report
Finance Policy Issues
Board Member Vacancy Appointment Vote
Approve March and April Minutes
Bylaw Amendent Proposals
HD3 Proposal

Lawsuit Over

Last month, on the eve of trial, plaintiffs Michael Papadapolous and Scott Forrester dismissed their case against the KBOO Foundation "with prejudice" which means giving up their right to renew the same legal claims.  Previously,  the court had granted our motion to dismiss all claims against individual board members so all that remained of the case were claims against KBOO for refusing to agree to particular  membership list requests from 2008.

Attached here to this blog post is what our lawyer Scott Pratt was prepared to say about the case at trial.  If you are interested, it provides a good overview of the facts of the case and KBOO's position.

April 26 Board Meeting Draft Agenda

Here is a preliminary look at the April 26th Board Meeting Agenda:

Appointment of New Board Members--recommendation from Nominating Committee

Budget--presentation from Finance

Web Coordinator--report from our newest staff member

Litigation Update

Report from Staff

Please send me proposals for board action at least one week before the meeting.

March 22 2010 Board Meeting Agenda

KBOO Board Meeting March 22 2010

Intro--6 pm-6:30

Saturday Morning Music

I love waking up on  Saturday mornings listening to Swing and Country and then getting out of bed and puttering around listening to Music From the True Vine.  I've been trying  to figure out the difference between country and bluegrass by listening.  My guess this morning is that country has steel guitars and that bluegrass has fiddles.

I'm looking forward to the Haiti fundraiser on Thursday.

Was the Square Dance just a week ago?

Yes.  What a fun time it was; finishing up a successful membership drive made it all the sweeter.

The first month of 2010 is almost over

Monday's board meeting went way long.  My nerves were frayed by the end, but we started out great with a Burns Night celebration brought to us by Maire Cullen.  I hope to feel recovered in time for the Square Dance Saturday night, dancing under the full moon.
