Joseph Gallivan interviews the photographer Isaac Layman, whose work is on show now in the Portland Art Museum as part of the 2013 Contemporary Northwest Art Awards.
Layman is known for his large digital photo compositions based on everyday objects such as cupboards, sinks and cutting boards. Seattle resident Layman will talk about his photographic  method, his use of digital tools, and his world view as captured through the lens.

Tifo displays use large banners, streamers, flares or other visuals to inspire the fan's chosen professional soccer team, and sometimes intimidate opponents and their fans. Murray will discuss the design and execution of Timbers Army tifos, the artistic rivalry with the Seattle Sounders, and talk about tifo's roots in Italy and its practice in Europe and South America.

Remembering Terry Toedtemeier

Eva Lake hosts a tribute to Portland photographer and curator Terry Toedtemeier, who died last week.  Guests include his widow, Prudence Roberts, gallery owner Jane Beebe, and John Laursen, co-author of the book, Wild Beauty, with Toedtemeier. 

Terry Toedtemeier was the Portland Art  Museum’s first curator of photography. He also was co-founder of the Blue Sky Gallery in 1975 and served as its co-director. In 1980 he became Professor of Art and History at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, teaching photography and studio classes.
