program:
Art Focus
program date:
Mon, 03/23/2009

Vanessa Renwick talks about her new show and film which is at the New American Art Union  called House of Sound

The installation comprises of: 2 channel audio, 35mm film to video, plexiglass, metal, candles, couches, lamps, speakers, rug, record stand, a turntable and a record collection the viewer is encouraged to play - if, that is, they care to stop listening to the fairly freewheeling and happy audio of the video, an oral history about the House of Sound. The audio is a real contrast to the footage (still above).

Renwick creates haunting art out of documentary film, works which are often site-specific and interactive. She is also known as the founder of the Oregon Department of Kick Ass.
