Art Focus and Black Laughs Matter A comedy showcase and Fundraiser
Black Laughs Matter
Black lives matter. Black spaces matter. Black laughs matter.

Come laugh with us for a good cause!
On the corner of North Mississippi and Fremont sits the historically African-American Lodge of Freemasons, a center for the St. Joseph Grand Lodge and Mt. Olive Grand Chapter of Eastern Stars, which has served the greater Portland community since the late 1960s.

Right now, this priceless piece of history is under threat of shutting its doors for good after the City unexpectedly hit them with 10s of thousands of dollars in fines this year.
That’s where you come in.

We'll be featuring some of the best comics in the NW, to help preserve this priceless part of Portland history.

We spend a lot of time talking and thinking about the rapid gentrification of our city and the losses we feel as more people and businesses in the community are priced out, but here is a real opportunity to help a bit of history hold on to its beloved corner.

Hosted by Nathan Brannon (Bridgetown Comedy Festival, winner of Seattle's Funniest Person) the night’s lineup includes:

Curtis Cook (Bridgetown Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, Willamette Week's Funniest Five) 2014)
Anthony Robinson (Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Seattle International Comedy Competition)
Jeremy Eli (host of Minority Retort)
Alyssa Yeoman (Minority Retort)
Ed Black (Minority Retort, semi-finalist Portland's Funniest Comedy Competition 2015)
The Real Hyjinx (Minority Retort, House of HyJinx) with musical guests Brannon Rockwell-Charland and funk/soul duo Free! Mason Jar closing the show.

When: Dec. 6, 2015. Doors open at 7:00PM Show 7:30 to 9:30
Where: St. Joseph Grand Lodge (3503 N Mississippi Avenue)
